With the introduction of the Sports Academy, we expect the future national team members to be created. Our vision with the sports academy is for the students to train and learn, ie to be fully committed to the training. Classes shall be conducted according to a program developed by the Bureau of Development of Education at the Ministry of Education and Science. The program provides general education and professional subjects. The students-sportsmen shall have a teacher for each subject who will evaluate them, and during the practical teaching and training they are taken care of by an expert team of sports coaches. Due to the great interest of students and their parents to enroll in the Sports Academy, from the new academic year 2015/2016 the Sports Academy will be established as a new public high school with open and dispersed classrooms in seven other municipalities throughout Macedonia:
1. Veles (Comprehensive High School Kocho Racin) – handball and football classrooms
2. Gostivar (Municipal High School Gostivar) – handball and football classrooms
3. Ohrid (OUTU Vanco Pitosheski) – handball and football classrooms
4. Shtip (SOU Kole Nehtenin) – football classroom
5. Prilep (SOU Mirce Acev) – handball and football classrooms
6. Strumica (Nikola Karev High School) – basketball and football classrooms
7. Bitola (OSZU Kuzman Shapkarev) – handball and football classrooms
The conditions for enrollment in the new public high school will be the same as before. Each candidate will have to go through a testing phase according to the criteria given for each sport separately. The checkup for each sport will then be done by the members of the sports federations and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science. As before, the appropriate federation will provide sports equipment and transportation to each place of training for each selected student, and for students living outside the municipality where the classes are held, accommodation in student dormitories will be provided. The students-sportsmen in the Sports Academy will continue to be part of the State Matura process and will be able to decide whether to take the state or school matura, so that those who take the state matura will be able to continue their college studies.
In addition to the above institutions, the national sports federations for football, handball, basketball and tennis will contribute to the project, and will include experts from various fields (first of all, top sports coaches, doctors, psychologists, nutritionists, etc.), in order to create Top Macedonian sportsmen recognizable by the way they play, the cooperation and the respect of the Olympic values and ideals.
What young and talented students-sportsmen get
The education of young football players, handball players, basketball players and tennis players will consist of general education subjects that will enable them to acquire knowledge in the field of native language, English, history, informatics, natural and social sciences. These courses will enable them to take the national graduation exam (matura exam) and continue their education at higher education institutions. They will also study professional subjects related to sports, and the skills of the game and commitment to sports will be strengthened in the teaching and training process led by top domestic and international coaches and professionals.
The Ministry of Education and Science and the Agency for Youth and Sports in cooperation with the national sports federations will prepare a plan for the training process, and will provide dynamics of all activities related to sports promotion of young sportsmen. The trainings will be performed under the mentorship of the selected coaches during the week, and for the weekends they will train and play in their home clubs. For the completion of the training process, an expert team composed of a coach and his deputy will be hired (for each sport separately), as well as internationally recognized coaches and experts who will be hired several times during the year.
The professional team consisting of a coach and his deputy, as well as a physiotherapist, will be present daily during the trainings together with the professor after classes.
The professional teams will be proposed by the relevant national sports federation and will have the appropriate education, license or certificate issued by the relevant federation or institution.
